Mosaic
Recorded in her home studio, arranged and
produced by the fabulous Chris While and Julie Matthews, this is
Judy's most relaxed recording yet. Includes Stolen Gems,
the song she wrote for Ruby Hunter about her experience as part
of the stolen generations; Mosaic (the house that I grew up
in), a song of reflection on the stages and patterns of our
lives; Never Lose Hope, a song about the resilience of
children and their hopes for a war-free world; and Song of
My Father , her poignant tribute to her father.
Let the Rainbow
Shine
This collection of songs celebrating gay
and lesbian life is the culmination of two years of work and support
from many wonderful people around the world. Includes A
Man Among Men, a moving tribute to those we have lost to the
HIV/AIDS pandemic; Lesbian Chic, Judy's hilarious take on
modern lesbian life; Influenced by Queers, a romp through
gay and lesbian history; and From This Day Forward, fast
becoming standard at gay and lesbian commitment
ceremonies.
Never
Turning Back
This is a wonderful retrospective of
Judy's first six albums. It is a perfect introduction to Judy's
music, and if you add this CD to her first compilation, The
Best of Judy Small, you will have a wonderful
collection of her best loved songs from 1982 to 1993. Includes
Judy's song for next-generation feminists, Daughters of the
Second Wave; Montreal December '89, a moving and
provocative song about violence against women; Charlesworth
Bay, a very personal song about the changing environment;
Never Rock 'n' Rollers, a rock 'n' roll song about being a
folksinger; and Women of Our Time, a hauntingly beautiful
ballad of three generations of women.
Global
Village
This album comes close to capturing the essence
of a live performance. The songs reveal a reflective Judy without
losing her sense of humour and the political comment that is her
trademark. Includes Love is Fearsome Thing, which
reminds us that prejudice is not someone else's problem; Global
Village, a post-cold war look at the place of the United States
in the world that is as chillingly relevant today as when it was
written in the mid 1990s; and Marlborough Sounds, a truly
beautiful and evocative ballad about a special place in New
Zealand.
The Best of Judy Small -
no longer available. All songs can be found on original albums and
can be downloaded from itunes and emusic
The title describes it perfectly - a
definitive collection of Judy's outstanding work from the 1980s.
Includes Fred Small's Annie; the now
legendary ballad of the experience of war from women's
perspective Mothers Daughters Wives; One Voice in the
Crowd, an anthem inviting us all to be involved in our
communities; and A Song for the Roly Poly
People, Judy's cheeky look at body
image.
